One variation that’s highly sought after by vintage PAF players is a pickup that is quiet, bright, and very dynamic. The PAF Master Neck Model is truly special. It has a great balance of full, richness with a throaty tone but its not too fat and notes still come through nice and clear, with beautiful smooth and creamy highs. DiMarzio gave it just the right amount of windings to allow the pickup to sing, sustain and still be articulate.Recommended for neck. Can also be used in bridge position.Tech TalkDiMarzio has done the research and seen all the mythology around pickups made with NOS wire, unoriented magnets, butyrate bobbins, vintage alloys, unbalanced coils, et al. They prefer to focus on results rather than on replicas. The PAF Master Neck Model uses several of our patented ideas to create a pickup that pays tribute to the original sound without imitating it. Instead of accidentally unbalancing the coils, they tuned them to different frequencies to get the same effect without compromising hum-cancellation.Wiring: 4 ConductorMagnet: Alnico 5Output mV: 193DC Resistance: 7.37 KohmYear of Introduction: 2014Patent: 5,399,802 & 5,908,998Tone GuideTreble: 5.5Mid: 5.5Bass: 4.5

Dimarzio Area 67 White Extra Black …

Dimarzio Area 67 White Extra Black ...DiMarzio – Dimarzio Area 67 White Extra Black Cover
The Monterey Pop Festival of 1967 was a watershed event in American music. When it was over, the world had heard and felt the sound of a Strat in the hands of a master. Single-coils in 1967 were bright and very clean. And, of course, they hummed. DiMarzio captured the classic bright and clean sound, but totally eliminated the hum with their patented Area technology. DiMarzio’s also reduced magnet pull by 40% for improved sustain and clarity. The Area 67 has the chime of ’60s pickups, and the 2 and 4 positions are light, bright and quack-happy. This is white with an extra black cover to help you match your guitar’s aesthetics.Wiring: 4 Conductor Magnet: Alnico 2 Output mV: 120 DC resistance: 5.86 Kohm Year of introduction: 2008 Patent: 4,442,749 & 5,908,802

Dimarzio Dp186 Cruiser Neck Pickup …

Dimarzio Dp186 Cruiser Neck Pickup ...DiMarzio – Dimarzio Dp186 Cruiser Neck Pickup White
No humbucking pickup sounds exactly like a vintage single-coil, but the Cruiser is about as close as it gets. The special dual-resonance design allows one coil to act as a woofer and the other as a tweeter. This extends the range of the noise-canceling design and allows the best qualities of each coil to be enhanced while fine tuning the output. There is less magnetic pull, and it still sounds clean, clear, and bright. Output: 140mV.Recommended for neck position with DP187, or neck & middle with hotter bridge like Fast Track 1, Chopper, Pro Track, or full-size humbuckers (See recommended accessories box on this page).Special dual-resonance designOne coil acts as woofer and other as a tweeterExtended range of noise-cancelingLess magnetic pullClean, clear, bright soundOutput: 140mV

Dimarzio Dp190 Air Classic Neck Pickup Cream …

DiMarzio set out to make a pickup with the sound of the late 1950s humbuckers without simply imitating them with Alnico 2 or aged Alnico 5 magnets. Airbucker technology was created to capture all of the best sonic qualities of vintage humbuckers while avoiding the technical problems. The Air Classic has the same sweet sound as a classic humbucker, but Airbucker technology uses more reliable full-strength Alnico 5 magnets and still reduces string-pull to increase sustain and sensitivity. The result is an almost vocal, three-dimensional sound that jumps off the string faster and stays true as it sustains. The sense of touch and control this provides will offer you an unequaled ability to create your own sound. Recommended for use in the neck position when combined with Air Classic bridge model and neck position in combination with hotter humbuckers. For all solidbody, hollow, and semi-hollowbody guitars. Tech Talk: There’s no doubt that a weak magnetic field allows a vibrating string to ring longer, but the standard Alnico 2/weakened Alnico 5 method also muddies the tone the longer the string sustains. By contrast, the Airbucker magnetic field preserves high end sustain; it’s easier to capture and hold harmonic feedback at varied frequencies, and chords maintain better clarity.

Dimarzio Dp180 Air Norton S Strat Pickup …

Dimarzio Dp180 Air Norton S Strat Pickup ...DiMarzio – Dimarzio Dp180 Air Norton S Strat Pickup White
The DiMarzio Air Norton S is the Strat replacement version of the full-size Air Norton. It’s warm sounding, very well balanced, and has the same unique tonal characteristics as the original. The original Air Norton wasn’t designed for a specific position or type of guitar, but it’s become most popular in the neck position of trem-equipped guitars for progressive music. The S version is also a very good bridge pickup for all types of rock. Its combination of medium output and harmonic bite are very effective for single-note soloing as well as chords. The DP180 pickup is recommended for all positions.Tech Talk: The original Airbuckers have an air gap between the magnet and the pole pieces. The Air Norton S doesn’t have this feature, but the sound, output and feel are so similar to the original that DiMarzio couldn’t call it anything else. It’s very good in the neck position with a Tone Zone S or Super Distortion S in the bridge, or in the bridge position with a Pro Track or Chopper in the neck. DiMarzio likes the Cruiser or Fast Track 1 in the middle with either setup for brighter sounds in the 2, 3 and 4 positions.

Delivering the rich tonal characteristics of balance, warmth, and clarity, this DiMarzio pickup achieves its focused sound with the same patented technology as the PAF 36th Anniversary, but the sound is hotter-perfect for rock. The DiMarzio AT-1 was originally designed for a 25″ scale, mahogany-body guitar, but it adapts very well to other instruments. Dimarzio Dp151 Paf Pro Pickup White …

Dimarzio Dp151 Paf Pro Pickup White ...DiMarzio – Dimarzio Dp151 Paf Pro Pickup White Regular
The DiMarzio PAF Pro was created when chops-intensive playing was reaching high popularity, and high-gain amps and rack systems were the norm. A pickup was needed that combined a lot of presence and “cut” with an open-sounding PAF vibe. The transparency of its sound lets the PAF Pro slice through heavy processing, where darker-sounding pickups get lost in the mud of the effects chain. Low notes have both snap and chunk, and there is a spike in the midrange that gives the pickup a subtle “aw” vowel sound, like a wah-wah pedal stopped in the middle. Treble response is tweaked, so high notes stand out without getting brittle. The PAF Pro makes an outstanding neck pickup in almost any guitar, and it’s an exceptional bridge pickup when high output isn’t required. The PAF Pro is a dependable choice right across the board — neck and bridge positions, solidbody, semi-hollow and hollowbody guitars are equally effective uses. This is a great building block pickup, because it’s effective in many different situations. Try it in the neck position with a hotter bridge pickup – anything from a Norton to a Super Distortion will create a calibrated two-humbucker match. As a bridge pickup, it’s really effective with single-coils, because it won’t drown them out with too much power, and it’s bright enough to blend in tone-wise.Really cuts through heavy mixRetains definition in long signal chainBold lowsSnappy highs
